On March 25, 2024, the front page of "Xinhua Daily" featured a column titled "Accelerating the Development of New Quality Productivity-Front line Research," publishing an article titled "Accelerating Takeoff in the Low Altitude Economy," seizing new opportunities and leading new tracks. Professor Pu Xujin from our school was interviewed by "Xinhua Daily" and expressed his views.
The "low altitude economy," relying on low-altitude airspace and led by the general aviation industry, involves economic concepts in many industries such as low-altitude flight, aviation tourism, branch line passenger transportation, general aviation services, scientific research, and education. It is a comprehensive economic form with strong radiating driving effects and a relatively long industrial chain. It is an active exploration and practical carrier for the development of new quality productivity. In recent years, the global low-altitude economy market has shown a continuous growth trend. In 2022, the global low-altitude economy market reached approximately $20 billion, an increase of about 30% compared to the previous year. In China, according to information disclosed by Yuntu Zhixing and forward-looking calculations, the market size of China's low-altitude economy industry was approximately 2.5 trillion yuan in 2022, with a comprehensive contribution to the national economy of approximately 400 billion yuan, expected to reach 463.3 billion yuan in 2023, and is expected to exceed 500 billion yuan in 2024.
General Secretary Xi Jinping, during his participation in the second session of the 14th National People’s Congress Jiangsu delegation review, put forward the significant requirement of "firmly grasping the primary task of high-quality development and accelerating the development of new quality productivity according to local conditions." He pointed out clearly that Jiangsu has good conditions and capabilities and should become an important position for the development of new quality productivity. From proposing the important concept of "new quality productivity" during local inspections to making important arrangements at the Central Economic Work Conference, conducting systematic elaborations during the collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and further explaining the methodology for developing new quality productivity at this year's National People's Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping, with profound strategic vision and high theoretical consciousness, has profoundly answered the significant questions of "what is new quality productivity, why develop new quality productivity, and how to develop new quality productivity."
At last year's Central Economic Work Conference, it was proposed to develop strategic emerging industries such as biomanufacturing, commercial aerospace, and low-altitude economy. This year's Jiangsu Provincial Government Work Report also clearly stated to vigorously develop strategic emerging industries such as biomanufacturing, smart grid, new energy, and low-altitude economy. This is the first time that the low-altitude economy has been included in the Jiangsu Provincial Government Work Report. Pu Xujin stated that our province should actively explore various low-altitude application scenarios, improve the ability to respond to market demands in a timely manner, strengthen the deep integration of industry, education, and research, enhance the level of technology transformation and industrialization, continuously cultivate new industries with new technologies, and lead industrial upgrading.
