The 10thIEEE International Symposium on Next-Generation Electronics (ISNE) and the 1stWuxi IC Industry and Research Integration Development Summit was held in Wuxi New District recently. Over 50 academicians and experts as well as more than 300 scholars and industry experts attended the symposium to discuss about new trends, spark novel insights, and bring together new industrial drivers.
Some experts were invited to deliver keynote speech at the symposium. Prof. Wu Hanming is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at Zhejiang University. He gave a speech under the title of “Support the Commercialization of Interdisciplinary Achievements through the Integration of Industry and Education Sector: Challenges and Opportunities for Chinese IC Industry in the Post-Moore Era”, in which he introduced the concept of complete process integration as well as the challenges and opportunities we faced in the post-Moore era. He pointed out that the pace of technology development in the post-Moore era provides opportunities for China’s IC industry to catch up with industry leaders. Meanwhile, it is indispensable to intensify integration of industry and education sector to support interdisciplinary study and establish platforms for the commercialization of technological achievements. Another speaker Prof. M. Jamal Deen, Fellow of the Academy of Science of Royal Society of Canada, Fellow of Canadian Academy Engineering as well as foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a speech entitled “The High-performance Nano/Optoelectronics for Healthcare Application”. In his speech, Professor briefed the audience on the high-performance nano-optoelectronic system applied to healthcare developed by his team, and explained the significance of such achievements in social development. Prof. Juin J. Liou, who is the national high-level talent, professor of North Minzu University and IEEE Fellow, introduced the development overview of China’s integrated circuit industry and made analysis of the bottlenecks hindering the development of related technologies under the title of “Electronics: Status, Prospects and Reliability”. Furthermore, he offered his suggestions on the strategic planning and development orientation of microelectronics in the future.
The IEEE International Symposium on Next-Generation Electronics (ISNE) is a large-scale international academic event initiated by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and IEEE Electron Devices Society. It has been successfully held in Taiwan (2010-2018), Zhengzhou (2019), Changsha (2021) and other cities for nine times. This year marks the first time that the symposium is held in Wuxi. With the theme of “Chip Future·the Same Frequency with the Times”, the 2.5-day symposium includes 1 summit, 7 sub-forums and 1 forum on the integration of industry and research. This year’s symposium focused on the latest issues and the research findings in microelectronics, integrated circuit, information control and Internet of Things applications. Exchanges and discussions were carried out in such topics as “research on advanced IC design and reliability”, “power devices and integrated circuit”, “integrated optoelectronic devices”, “new generation communication technology”, “third generation semiconductor technology”, “low-dimensional semiconductor materials and devices” “novel sensor R&D and applications” and others.
