Application for Residence Permit

International students holding X1 Visa should apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days since the date of entry. The following documents are required for residence permit application at Exit & Entry Administration of Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau.

1. Original passport and the copy of personal information, photo, valid visa pages;

2.Admission Letter and official letter from the university that indicates the study duration;

3.Original Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW201 or Form JW202);

4.Completed Visa and Residence Permit Application Form and one photo (white background and passport photo size);

5. Registration Form of Temporary Residence;

6.Health Certificate issued by Jiangsu International Travel Healthcare Center (for international students over 18 years old whose study duration in China is more than one academic year).

Residence Permit Application

X1 visa holders:International students holding X1 visa must apply for residence permit within 30 days from the date of entry. Overdue public security bureau will be fined 500RMB per day. The following materials should be provided:

1. Admission Letter and JW201/JW202 Form

2. Original and copy of passport: first page, visa page/current valid residence certificate page, last entry airport seal page

3. One photo (2-inch white background) and electronic version (about 25 yuan) taken in public Security Bureau.

4. Fill in the Foreigner Visa Certificate Application Form

5. Official visa letter with the seal of the College

6. Registration Form of Temporary Accommodation handled by local police station

7. Verification Certificate of Physical Examination Records for Overseas Personnel (freshmen entering China for the first time).

Note: Residence permit for less than 12 months: 400RMB, residence permit for 12-36 months: 800RMB, stay visa is about 160RMB.

X2 visa holders:International students with a short-term X2 visa can stay in China for a specified period of time without changing to a residence permit and study in China within the validity period of the visa.

International students who need to continue their study in Jiangnan University before the expiration of their visa or residence permit shall apply for extension before the expiration. Overdue public security bureau will be fined 500RMB per day.

Lose or reissue passport:

International students must follow the following procedures immediately after discovering and confirming the lost passport.

1. The international student should report the loss to the local police station with a valid certificate and get the certificate.

2. Go to the International Student Office to get the relevant certification letter;

3. Go to the Exit and Entry Administration Office of Wuxi Public Security Bureau with the passport loss report certificate issued by the police station, temporary accommodation registration form and the certificate letter issued by the International Students' Office to issue the passport loss certificate;

4. Apply for a new passport with the passport loss certificate at the embassy of your country in China;

5. After obtaining the new passport, the international students must apply to the International Students Office immediately, and then go to the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Municipal Public Security Bureau to apply for the visa or residence certificate, and update the accommodation registration in time.
